Ready to up your gardening game?!

Welcome to the community powered upstart generation of plant lovers. We have always shared the bounty over the backyard fence. Now we took to the internet. Give a plant away or swap one, and the gardener who receives it awards you points.

Share your plants

Share it

Don't let your bounty go to waste and rot on the vine. Whatever excess you have, you can donate through Green Coterie. Sharing plants with other green thumbs is a great way to bring down the cost of gardening and adds a wonderful back story to the garden, each plant being not just beautiful but a reminder of the friend it came from.

And here's the loveliest bit — every plant you pass on earns you points. Whoever receives it gets to say thank you with up to five of them, and their note stays on your profile for keeps.

Swap plants with others

Swap it

Trade, barter, exchange, whatever you want to call it. At Green Coterie we thrive on finding plant rarities and expanding our gardens with plants or cuttings that are not available for purchase in a local or online store. Not only will you swap plants, but you'll trade information about how to take care of your plant, what plants grow well in your area, and other cool tips and tricks we may know.

Swaps are doubly good: you both come away with something new, and you both earn points for it. Trade often enough and you'll find yourself climbing the board.

Showcase your garden

Showcase it

Some of the best gardening happens face to face — throwing open the gate for an afternoon, walking people round the beds, explaining what thrives where, and sending everyone home with a cutting or a handful of seed gathered that morning. Urban allotment or grand manor garden, behind every one is a passionate green-fingered owner proud of the plot they've created. Open garden days are what we're building towards next, and we'd love yours to be one of them.

Until then, the gardeners doing the most sharing are the ones to watch. Every point you earn gathers on your profile, and whoever ends the month on top of the board wins that month's prize.

How points work

Points are only ever awarded by the person who received the plant — so they reflect what you actually passed on, not what you posted.

  1. 1. Offer something

List a plant, some seeds or a cutting to give away or swap.

  2. 2. Hand it over

Accept a request from a fellow gardener and arrange the handover.

  3. 3. Collect your points

They confirm it arrived and award up to 5 points, plus a thank-you note.

Your points add up across every listing and rank you on the monthly Top Givers board. Whoever finishes the month at the top wins that month's prize — a rare plant, a piece of kit for the garden, something worth having.
